Junior Building Engineer

This position is responsible for providing facilities maintenance to a regional portfolio of suburban Medical Office Buildings in the local market. This position entails maintenance of building systems, and general upkeep of properties operated by Healthcare Management of America. To provide assistance to the Property Managers, Chief Engineer, and Building Engineers as required.  Respond to tenant requests; perform preventative maintenance and various tasks such as minor plumbing issues, minor HVAC issues, minor electrical issues, replacement of bulbs, and oversite of the assigned work orders, and completion of all required paperwork. Ability to work independently a must. Work on-call as required.


  • Oversee and perform preventative maintenance tasks, and light duty construction.
  • Experience and operational knowledge of HVAC systems, electric, plumbing and other normal building systems a plus.
  • Must be computer and smart phone literate. A great part of candidate’s time may be in the field…verbal and document communication with other staff is imperative.
  • Assist in required daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual required building inspections as required.
  • Work with subcontractors and vendors as required.
  • Work with Angus work order system to perform and verify completion of service calls.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by managers. Assist other company departments as requested. IE; Work with Regional Facilities and Construction Manager/Sr. Property Manager on approved projects.
  • Outstanding written/oral communication skills required.
  • Outstanding customer service skills required.
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders, man hoists or lifts, and the ability to repeatedly lift and carry heavy loads (up to 50lbs.), and other duties as assigned.
  • Note: During the COVID-19 Pandemic, HTA requires all staff members to wear PPE (KN95 Mask and protective gloves), abide by the CDC recommended social distancing and complete a daily COVID health survey while at the property.


Following are the minimum requirements of this position:

  • High school education or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license. Meets company MV operator criteria
  • Experience in basic commercial building HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems a plus. Past experience working independently with little or no supervision required.
